Chips, chocolate and other snacks, once implicated and exonerated as the main cause of acne, are back in the niche dermatology. A team of investigators said that a diet rife with starchy carbohydrates insulin-doping is probably guilty of the outbreak of acne, which to some extent affects up to 95 percent of teens and 35 percent of adults in Western cultures.
The researchers reached their conclusion after finding no acne among Kitavan Islanders of Papua New Guinea and the Ache hunter-gatherers of Paraguay. The two tribes ate fruit, fish, vegetables, coconut, peanuts and / or game, but consumed almost no starches or refined sugars. Continue reading…
