I’m a professional blogger, so I’m a tiny apartment and broken down Honda Civic away from homeless–especially now the economy is a disaster.
Lately, I’ve turned to a comfort food or two. A few cups of coffee, eel sushi and loaves of semolina bread. Sorry, it makes me feel better!
Those are my old standbys. But, some researchers claim people are more tempted to try new stuff during tough times–weird stuff too.
In the study, appearing in the Journal of Consumer Research, experts say a state of upheaval changes peoples choices. In this case, people passed up good old Lay’s potato chips, and switched to fancy “camembert-and-plum crisps.”
This could be because people are already in a state of flux, maybe a little disoriented, so the stage is set to try something unfamiliar and new. Makes sense to me, when you’re bummed you’ll try anything to pep you up.
So, when the “chips” are down and you’re feeling low, what comfort food seduces you?
