Popcorn and Cereals Contain Good-For-You Antioxidants

Good news if you love to eat popcorn at the movies–your favorite snack is healthier than previously thought! New research shows that popcorn and cereals contain phenol antioxidants, thought to protect against heart disease and cancer.

The study was presented to the American Chemical Society (ACS), and was led by Dr Joe Vinson, of the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

Previously, it was thought that the benefits of whole-grain snack foods (such as popcorn and breakfast cereals) were limited to the extra fiber they provide.

Sugar Consumption is Out of Control in the U.S.

Sugar consumption is a major cause of premature health problems in the U.S. Americans ingest more than 22 teaspoons of added sugar (355 calories) every day, according to the 2001-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. That’s two to three times what is recommended.

The American Heart Association has publicized their recommendations for men and women. The AHA says that most American women should not consume more than 100 calories of added sugar a day. Men should limit their intake to no more than 150 calories. One 12-ounce can of sugar-sweetened soda is 130 calories. T

Natural Weight Loss Tips

This article will give you some natural weight loss tips that you can use right away. Natural weight loss simply means losing weight without drugs, including so-called diet pills or medical procedures.

I would add another characteristic to my definition of natural weight loss -avoiding extreme, crash or fad diets that tell you how to lose a large amount of weight quickly. This is not natural for the body, and even if you do lose a lot of weight fast, you are very likely to gain it back -and then some. This is because the body has certain nutritional needs, and when you deprive it there is a balancing mechanism that comes into play.

So natural weight loss is really healthy weight loss. Being overweight or obese is not healthy -we all know that.
